Tom’s first professional role was as a Gumnut in Windmill Performing Arts’ Snugglepot and Cuddlepie in 2007. He has also featured as a soloist in Pelican Productions’ Music Theatre Camps 2007, 2008 and 2009. He studies drama with Shane Davidson, voice with Linda Ellis and dance with Michael Riggs.
In May 2008 and January 2009 Tom played the role of Gavroche in the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of SA’s award winning production of Les Miserables to rave reviews. He followed this up in May 2009 with the Bullfrog in Swell Productions’ Honk! at the Opera Studio. Tom also played Daniel in the short film Daniel in March 2008 and was delighted to be chosen by director Glendyn Ivin for the lead role of Chook in his first feature film, Last Ride opposite Hugo Weaving.
Tom took his role as a Leukaemia patient seriously, visiting hospitals and studying the illness online to research the role. Just don’t ask Tom about his haircut: “it was horrific!”
